The World Of Search Engine Optimization

The ever changing world of Search Engine Optimization continues to play a vital role in the success or failure for website owners seeking the topmost positions in the search engine rankings.   The Google search engine continues its massive dominance in the world  of search with text search, image search, and video search via YouTube.

Website Content is still the Number 1 most important ranking factor, as it has been since the beginning of the web.  This article by Aleh Barysevich points out significant ranking factors moving forward in 2017.

The Four Most Important Ranking Factors

I remember being awestruck back in 2013 by Brian Dean’s list of more than 200 Google ranking factors. My first thought was, “Wow! Think of the work and research that went into this!” followed by, “This will be so useful!” and finally, “Oh god, there aren’t enough hours in the day for all of this.”

Fortunately, not all ranking factors are created equal — you can maximize your SEO efforts by focusing on a few specific ranking factors. Of course, Google’s algorithm is always changing, and we can’t rely on yesterday’s ranking factors as we step into 2017. These top four ranking factors are based on the most recent studies by SearchMetrics, Backlinko, and my colleagues at SEO PowerSuite.

Very interesting information in this article because it continues to support the concept of backlinks as a ranking factor. A few years ago there was quite a bit of speculation that backlinks would be fading from the search engines in terms of importance. Many SEO professionals doubted that concept noting that it was actually the lynchpin of the entire concept of the web!

Here’s an interesting video on the subject of SEO for the year 2017, from Chase Reiner SEO.

Whether you agree this is a “Complete Guide” or not, there are a number of interesting points here. Once again, links coming into your domain, fresh content, and continued activity all are factors in rankings.

As the Internet continues to grow into a massive collection of web pages and posts, searchers attempt to find articles of interest, products to purchase, services, entertainment, news and weather and everything in between at faster and faster pace. Business magazines, such as Forbes.com devote large sections to this important topic of search engines and marketing on the search engines. Author R.L. Adams, goes into considerable detail in the following article from a recent issue.

Rules For Dominating Google’s Search Results

From its earliest days, Google’s core search algorithm offered the most relevant and most organic search results quickly and accurately on a simple site with an iconic logo that has now become synonymous with the search giant’s business. Searching amidst the world’s vast data, Google cleverly cataloged and categorized pages using its PageRank formula, which assessed the quantity and power of links to any given webpage.

For a few years, Google’s search worked seamlessly, repeatedly predicting the most relevant search results every single time, again and again. In fact, it was so good that it sent shockwaves through the internet, digitally obliterating its rivals over time. However, as Google’s clever search engine grew into a colossus corporation, and both individuals and businesses realized the inherent power of appearing organically at the top of any search, things began to change.

This is certainly not an exhaustive list of ranking factors, tips or how to’s, but we can see that what is new for 2017 continues to be a reinforcement of what has been significant in previous years. Keep doing the right thing: Quality content, good site architecture, remain active with social media, be consistent with new content. All the primary factors that were working in 2016 will continue to be important in 2017.
